I see what you mean on the 1040, that the program doesn't perfectly align the last name to the last name label on the form.

However, the diagnostic about the name being truncated isn't related to how the name prints. That just indicates that the taxpayer's (and spouse's, if applicable) names contain enough characters that the program is going to have to shorten them in order to e-file successfully. 

Follow the steps in the diagnostic to shorten the names as much as possible in the order listed. Typically the shortest combination possible would be entering only the taxpayer's first initial in the "First name" field. 

This diagnostic won't stop you from e-filing. We just made it a critical diagnostic to give you a chance to shorten the name(s) as much as possible before e-filing instead of having the program cut off extra characters. That's because having a truncated name might slow the return's processing.
