Are you sure they didn't each receive a letter with $1,000?  Or maybe another letter for $1,025?

Today I came across a letter 6425 on the EIP3 which said the husband received $2,100 and the wife only $700.  The $2,800 total is correct because neither has had a dependent for many years and their income has been less than $100K.  But when did IRS start favoring the man of the house?
