The workflow in PTO is different by design.  Comparing the workflow of TurboTax with what's in PTO is like comparing apples to oranges.

Taxpayers can import tax documents directly from the issuers to TurboTax because they have direct access to their accounts.  But PTO is a professional tax software.  It is designed to interface with Intuit Link, the protal to which your clients will upload these same tax documents for you to prepare their returns.  For productivity, PTO then makes it possible for you to import specific tax documents into the tax return.

It all makes perfect sense, if you think about it.
