I was working on a couple's return and filed the mothers return for the spouse and accidently used the spouse's social security number on the return, which the IRS accepted. I re-filed the mother's return with the correct social security number, no refund or tax due was involved. How can I file the joint return? I would guess that I would have to paper file the return and show the reason as inadvertently filing her mother's return with spouse's social security number. Is my thinking correct?
