Clients are getting letters from the state of Michigan to adjust retirement income who have had 1099-R with code 4. In ProSeries the MI calculation is excluding all of the benefits as surviving spouse benefits, even when boxes are not checked and 4884 is not filled out. Some of the benefits are from parents or nephews so MI is sending out letters to correct the mistake. How do I fix this in ProSeries so the income is taxable?

When were the returns filed? I have one retired Michigan client that was accepted at the end of February and the codes flowed correctly.

March. I went back and changed the code to N to see the difference. It did change the refund amounts for most. But doesn't exactly match the adjustment from the MI letter.

Hi @JoJoTaxes Welcome to the Community! We'd recommend connecting with ProSeries Support as they can remote in and take a closer look at what might be happening.
