Hi everyone, client asked me to file an amendment since I am a Green Card holder, and he is from one of the 72 countries that are restricted. His lawyer told him Form 1040 this year updated and should be checked the box in Part IV for the Earned Income Credit (EIC) , confirming that the taxpayer’s home was in the United States for more than half of 2025.
There are no changes to the refund, tax due, or any other amounts—only this box needs to be checked.
My question is: Is it acceptable to send the amendment to the IRS for this reason only? If so, what is the best explanation to write on page 2 of Form 1040-X?
Thanks for help
