I discovered a software error when I was preparing tax return which
had a final adoption from last year. (at least in my mind its a software error - happy to be corrected)
The form 8839 worksheet has a question - did you file a form 8839 for a prior year for this child?
The answer is obvious at least to my pea sized brain, and the software should automatically check the "yes" box. However, the software did not do that - which in my opinion is a programming error.
Here is how it comes over from the prior year - it carries forward with the "NO" box checked.
On a side note, this is what scares me about folks who self prepare and get no diagnostic/error notification and they think the return is prepared properly.
Even scarier are the (so-called) preparers who work under "mentors" (if you want to go down a scary rabbit hole) search FB for preparer "helping each other groups" who have NO experience working as tax preparers.

HI @plrraz great to see you in the Community and thanks for posting about an error in the ProSeries program. We'd connect with ProSeries Support on this. They might be able to check how previous years handled this or suggest adding this as a suggestion in our Idea Exchange.
