I am getting rejected for extension for an initial 1120S tax return. I verified the name and EIN is correct. I really don't want to call the IRS. I have done these in the past, but have a feeling I am missing something small. Thanks in advance!
Form 7004, the tax year ending date ('TaxPeriodEndDt' specified in the Return Header) must match the data in the e-file database unless one of the checkboxes in Line 5b - "Initial Return", "Final Return" or "Consolidated return to be filed" - is checked.
Error Resolution:
Verify that you have entered the correct EIN and check the tax period on the extension. Make corrections and file again. If it is already correct, contact the IRS to resolve the issue. This extension cannot be electronically filed until that is accomplished.
You may call the IRS e-File Helpdesk for assistance at: (866) 255-0654.
