what flavor of tax return?    

A 1040 is just like an amended return, just mark the superseded box instead of amended. 

Some states may not play nice with a federal superseded, I know I can't amend a CA return if Im superseding the federal, and CA doesnt do support superseded in ProSeries 

I have to chose amend for both.
