IRS doesn't like to release the forms before January 15 because otherwise people will use them for making the last payment for the previous year, rather than the first payment for the current one. I think long ago Intuit looked at that and figured, "well it must not be urgent, and it doesn't look like anyone would want to file them by April 15 anyway."
Someone needs to point out to Jorge that "we want to deal with each client just once, preparing their return at the same time as advising them about quarterly payments."
Of course, since IRS has now asked everyone to jump on the "no paper checks" bandwagon, Intuit might be asking "how high?"
