I have a client who brings me eggs from his backyard coop, every time he needs to stop by the office. I am coming up with as many reasons as possible (he's PR for an estate, so in addition to his return I am doing the final 1040; a 1041; and helping with some probate paperwork). The egg shells are different colors, so we have Diversity Eggs Inclusiveness. Meanwhile,
The largest egg supplier in Arizona just killed off 95% of its chickens because of bird flu. The company president, whose brother is a former Republican member of the county board of supervisors, explains:
From the Hickman Family, who lost 95% of their chickens to the bird flu:
Dear Hickman Supporters,
The recent outbreak of Avian Flu at our westside farms was a tragedy that did not have to happen. European countries have now been vaccinating their flocks for a couple of years and are gaining the upper hand on controlling this disease. That vaccine is actually made here in the U.S., but we export to other countries while our flocks go unprotected. At the expense of the egg industry and our consumers, we are effectively subsidizing the meat bird industry. They are strongly against vaccines because they feel the export markets would be closed to their surplus products. Please consider sending the message below to all of our elected officials and the USDA so we can start protecting our flocks in this country.
Sincerely,
Glenn Hickman, President
