Not enough info to answer specifically but I agree with Terry53029 about the credit for taxes paid to another state.  However, without knowing your client's income, it is possible to owe IL because IL tax rate is higher than MS tax rate, meaning even with the credit to MS, your client will still owe more to IL.  Is it $980?  Depends on your clients income.
