I once had a client with a million-dollar NOL who was using it up about $50K per year.  I didn't say that the NOL from 2023 was created in 2023.  It could be from 2020, or earlier.  Profit in 2023,  no income tax in 2023, SE tax in 2023.  Getting real enough for you now?
