Adult child came up with a w2 and college papers (but not entitled to any college credit due to the scholarship amount).  Filed as 20 yr old wanted on their own.  Month later mother came up and wants to file HOH and claim adult child. ( Mother made less on a w2 than the child, but did withdraw from her retirement a large amount) .  I explained that the child filed and claimed themself, but I would look into seeing if she could just claim the head of household with the childs name etc.. but not put her down as a dependent.  So that really is my question.
