The IRS e-file is scheduled to open January 15, 2025, for tax year 2024. This also includes prior year business returns in Lacerte 2022 and Lacerte 2023.

Important:

• IRS e-file opens on January 15, 2025, for the tax year 2024, including prior year business returns for Lacerte 2023 and Lacerte 2022. Lacerte 2021 e-file will remain closed and will not re-open.
• Lacerte will begin e-file transmission on January 16, 2025; all e-filed business returns currently on hold will be processed.
• A required program update is scheduled for release on January 15th.
  • This brief delay in processing will ensure the system is updated, which is important to avoid any unnecessary rejections.
• E-filings for prior year business returns will resume on this date for state agencies that are open and ready to accept e-files.
  • Check lfs.intuit.com for the most up to date form release dates.
  • Check 2024 Lacerte E-file Agency Approval and Start Dates for Federal and State e-file availability.
• Filings will remain on hold for any state agency not prepared to accept e-files until they are ready.
