She is featured in Tax Pros for Reel on the Intuit® ProConnect™ Tax Pro Center, a series of videos taken at QuickBooks® Connect in which she and fellow tax practitioners comment on tax topics. Kelly also serves on the Intuit ProConnect Tax Customer Council. Here’s what she had to say about her practice, the tax profession and more. ProConnect: Tell us about your practice. Kelly Nokleby: We specialize in bookkeeping, payroll and tax preparation for family child care professionals. ProConnect: Why is the ProConnect Tax Customer Council important to the profession? KN: It is important for Intuit to connect with tax professionals who use their products in order to provide the tools we need to be successful. ProConnect: What’s your favorite part of being on the Council? KN: Giving back to the tax profession, and being able to make a difference in the lives of tax professionals and taxpayers. ProConnect: What kind of Intuit software do you use? KN: ProConnect Tax Online, ProSeries®, QuickBooks Online Accountant and QuickBooks Desktop. ProConnect: What are your goals for your practice this year? KN: Moving away from ProSeries and using ProConnect Tax Online exclusively, as well as becoming more of an advisor and partner with my clients. ProConnect: What was your very first job? KN: Detasseling corn. ProConnect: Who is your favorite author? KN: Hmmm … right now I really don’t have one as there has not been much time to read. I do like Janet Evanovich because her books are light reading, but also good stories. Reading helps me decompress. ProConnect: If you were stranded on a desert island with access to just one kind of technology, what would it be, and why would you want it? KN: My smartphone with GREAT cell service. There isn’t much you can’t do without your phone. ProConnect: How can tax professionals keep up with all the changes in tax laws and regulations? KN: Through continuing education – my preference is live education because there is not only access to the material, but also the opportunity for discussion with peers. I also feel it is important to be a part of a professional organization. ProConnect: Thanks, Kelly!
