Improper file size comparison causes internet updates to abort for EasyACCT

by Intuit Updated 4 months ago

In EasyACCT, an improper file size comparison causes the Internet Update process to abort. The file is an ezq.zip (or other .zip or .cab file). How do you fix it?

Resolving the improper file size comparison issue

Before you start: see if the user is using a Sonic Firewall, which is a hard-wired connection. If so, the user's local IT professional should examine the logs and enter exceptions as needed.

To resolve the improper file size comparison issue:

  1. Disable the antivirus and firewall programs running on your system:
    • Check with your antivirus vendor or your local IT professional to learn how to disable the antivirus and firewall temporarily.
    • Exclude the following files from all firewalls in Windows, Routers, and antivirus programs:
      • ezacctw.exe
      • ezacctwb.exe
      • setup1.exe
    • Allow the following URL in all firewalls in Windows, Routers, and antivirus programs:  https://webservicesfp.lscsoft.com/downloads/ez/2021_2022
  2. Reboot into Safe Mode with Networking:
  3. When your computer is ready, start the Internet Update.
  4. Before rebooting after installation, select Normal Start Up Mode from msconfig.
  1. Go to System, System Utilities, System CharacteristicsUpdates.
  2. Unselect the box for Shared Download Path.
  3. Close EasyACCT, then reopen.
  4. Try the Internet Update again.

Try using a network cable to connect to the internet before trying the update.

  1. Install and update the program on the computer or server with the internet connection.
  2. Go to the workstation with the issue and change the shared download path to point to the connected computer for the update:
    1. Go to System, System Utilities, System Characteristics, Updates.
    2. Select the drive for the computer that has the update installed in the Shared Download path.
    3. Try the update again.

Copy and paste the file mentioned in the error message from an updated computer to the problem computer.

The updated files are all in the folder C:\EPSW.FTP
