Why can't I add a strategy in Intuit Tax Advisor?
by Intuit• Updated 1 week ago
This article will help you determine why a strategy cannot be added or why a warning is occurring for a strategy.
Beginning in 2025 (Tax Year 2024), Intuit Tax Advisor will be included with Lacerte and ProConnect Tax. See here to learn more.
Why does a strategy I want to use in Intuit Tax Advisor say it can't be added?
Strategies look at the return data, what's been changed on the Pre-strategy baseline, and other specific strategies to see if the requirements have been met. When the strategy requirements are not being met for a plan, the strategy will show Why can't I add?. Select the Why can't I add? for the strategy to learn more about that strategy's requirements.
Updates to the tax return don't automatically sync to an existing Intuit Tax Advisor plan. If the return has been updated, create a new plan.
Unable to add the Hire your kids strategy
The Hire your kids strategy can't be added when an S Corporation choice of entity strategy is being used and there's no other Schedule C on the tax plan. An S-Corp is not a closely held business and this would be a higher audit risk with no Sch C present.
You are also not be able to add this strategy for hiring kids under 10 because this is also a higher audit risk.
