- This article references ProSeries file types and uses YY to reference the tax year in their file extensions. For example, tax year 2023 files would be .24i, .24p, .24c, or .24s, but will show as .YYi, .YYp, .YYc, or .YYs in this article.
This article will help you:
If you've seen slowness or program crashing when performing the following tasks:
- Updating ProSeries
- Downloading e-file or Pay-by-Refund status
- Licensing ProSeries
- E-filing
- Increasing or authorizing Pay-Per-Return fees
- Slow opening or saving of data files
- Inability to open or save data files
- Using other online areas of ProSeries
While antivirus programs serve a great purpose in protecting your computer, some antivirus programs have real-time scanning features. If the real-time scan is scanning your program folder when the program is trying to perform a specific function it can cause slowness, or even block the program from completing the function, resulting in a crash. To avoid conflicts, we recommend excluding the ProSeries installation folder and data folders from the real-time scanning.
What folder should the real time scanning be excluded from scanning?
This list will help you identify which folder should be excluded. These are the default folders that are used when installing the various ProSeries applications. The real-time scanning should be setup to not scan the folder for the application you use:
- ProSeries Professional standalone setup:
- C:\ProWinYY
- ProSeries Professional network setup:
- C:\ProWinYY
- X:\ProSeries\ProNetYY
- ProSeries Basic:
- C:\BasWinYY
- Document Management System (DMS):
- C:\Program Files(x86)\Intuit\DMS
- ProSeries Fixed Asset Manager standalone setup:
- C:\FamWinYY
- ProSeries Fixed Asset Manager network setup:
- X:\FamWinYY
