Unable to Scroll with Mouse Wheel in Lacerte

Using the mouse scroll wheel does not work in the input fields nor Forms tab for Lacerte.

This behavior can be a result of a corrupt program configuration file (.ini). Lacerte creates this file automatically for each year the first time you open that program year on each workstation. If the program behavior indicates the file may be damaged, it's generally safe to rename this configuration file. If you rename or delete w??tax.ini for any program year, Lacerte will behave as though it were the first time opened, next time you open it. Client data will still be present but all of the Open-Once type messages will open again.

Automated repair:

Run the Reset Display tool from the Lacerte Tool Hub.

Manual Repair

  1. Close Lacerte.
  2. Press Windows +R on your keyboard to open the Run Dialog in Windows.
  3. Type %appdata% in the Search (Run) field.
  4. Press Enter then open the \Lacerte\ folder on the new window that pops up.
  5. Rename the configuration (.ini) file for the tax year affected. E.g. - w23tax.ini for 2023 to w23tax.old.
  6. Open Lacerte and test the scroll wheel.

For years 2008 and prior:

  1. Close Lacerte.
  2. Open the folder C:\Windows\.
  3. Rename the configuration (ini) file for the tax year affected. E.g. - w08tax.ini for 2008 to w08tax.old.
  4. Open Lacerte and test the scroll wheel.

If the issue persists or this happens in all tax years, try a different mouse or a different USB port as it is not the configuration file that is causing it.
