by Intuit Updated 2 months ago

Before you start:

  • This article references default installation paths and uses YY to reference the tax year in 20YY format. C: will always indicate the local drive and X: will always indicate the network drive.

The following steps should be completed on the workstation that is experiencing the error, as to repair the license components:

  1. Close ProSeries.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer.
  3. Navigate to the following location: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\EntitlementClient
    • ProgramData is a hidden folder. To view it, you may need to open Control Panel, and select File Explorer Options. From there, click on the View tab, and check the box for Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
  4. Open the v8 folder.
  5. Right-click on the entitlementdatastore.ecml file, then left-click Rename.
  6. Type "old" at the end of the file name, so that it reads entitlementdatastore.ecmlold.
  7. Navigate to the following location: C:\ProWinYY\msiupdates.
  8. Double-click on EntlClnt.msi
  9. Select Remove EntlClnt and click Finish.
  10. When the uninstall is complete, click Close.
  11. Double-click on EntlClnt.msi again.
  12. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.
  13. When the installation is complete, click Close .
  1. Open ProSeries.
  2. From the Tools menu, choose License Products.
  1. Open ProSeries.
  2. From the Information menu, choose Product Licenses.
  3. You should now see the license information for the firm.

Additional Information:

  • ProSeries 2006 requires Microsoft .Net Framework version 1.1. This version of the .Net Framework is not supported on Windows 8 or Windows 10. Because of this 2006 will not install or license properly on these operating systems.
  • After reinstalling the Entitlement Client you will have to re-license all programs for the applicable years. You may also need to re-register QuickBooks . For information on how to register QuickBooks, please click Register QuickBooks.
