Common Questions On Missouri Individual Forms in Lacerte

by Intuit Updated 5 days ago

Why won't Missouri Form MO-NRI generate with a Missouri Non Resident return?

Lacerte assumes part-year resident status for Missouri by default. Missouri Form MO-NRI will only generate for nonresidents. An additional entry is required to indicate nonresident status.

To generate Form MO-NRI:

  1. Go to input Screen 55.281, Missouri Nonresident/Part-Year.
  2. Scroll to the Missouri Nonresident Information section at the top.
  3. Enter 1 in the input field 1= Nonresident.

Note: Taxpayer and spouse must be marked separately.

How to enter the Missouri Nonresident Entertainer Tax Withheld

  1. Go to Screen 55.281, Missouri Nonresident/Part-year
  2. Under the Missouri Nonresident Information section enter the amount in the field labeled Missouri Nonresident Entertainer Tax Withheld (codes 31 and 32)

Individual MO Schedule MO-A has a Depreciation Adjustment When No Depreciation Has Been Taken in Current Year.

Why is there a depreciation adjustment on MO-A when there is not any depreciation on a return?

"If you have previously taken an addition modification for a qualifying property, but have sold or disposed of the property during the taxable year, check the box on Line 12 and take a subtraction for the amount not previously recovered. More information and examples can be found on the Department's web site at http://dor.mo.gov/pdf/depreciation_examples.pdf."

If you disagree with Lacerte's automatic calculation and would like to Override:

  1. Go to Screen 51.281, Missouri Modifications
  2. Scroll down to the Missouri Subtractions section
  3. Enter a '-1' in the applicable field(s) under the Depreciation Adjustments subsection
