The REP billing system is designed to automatically identify a return based on either the SSN (Social Security Number) or EIN (Employer Identification Number), in order to avoid a charge for REP (Remote Entry Processing) on a sample return:
- Navigate to Screen 1 - Client Information
- For an individual return, in the field labeled Social Security #, enter all 9's
- For a business return, in the field labeled Federal ID Number, enter all 9's
**Entering all 9's for the Federal ID or SSN allows the REP system to view this as a demo client and will not charge for the REP transaction.
- To get REP access for your demo client, highlight the client
- Go to the Tools menu.
- Select Communications, then REP Access.
- Click Transmit Now to connect to Lacerte for authorization.
NOTE:
- You'll still need to obtain REP access for the return to unlock the file and view the forms, but you will not be charged,
- Be advised that the word DEMO will print on the return.
- A Demo client cannot be used for the Consolidator of a Consolidated Corporate return.
- EIC Calculations will be disallowed because a valid SSN is required.
