Setting up Network printers in ProSeries

A network printer allows multiple users to access the same device, streamlining workflow in a tax preparation office and enabling centralized management. It is a great way to ensure accurate printing of tax forms with correct alignment, barcodes, and paper settings.

Preparing your printer

Installing the Printer Driver
- Visit your printer manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your specifc printer model and operating system.
- Run the downloaded driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions. Select Network Printer or Add a Printer option during installation.

Configure Printer in Windows or macOS
Windows:
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Find your newly installed printer.
- Right-click and select Printer Properties or Printing Preferences.
MacOS:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer then Options & Supplies or Open Print Queue.

Configure the Printer in ProSeries
- Launch ProSeries.
- Select File then Print to open the Print Center.
- Select Printer, PDF and DMS Setup... to change which printer is selected.
- You'll see the following fields:
- Tax Forms Printer
- Client Letters/Invoice/Client Checklist Printer
- Client Presentation Printer
- Labels Printer
- Change the ones you'd like to your Network Printer by selecting Change... under the respective fields.
- Choose your network printer from the list of available printers.

Troubleshooting
- If ProSeries can't find the printer, check the network connection. Make sure the printer is online and has a valid IP address. Restart your router and printer if necessary.
- If you're having trouble printing, try reinstalling or updating the printer driver.
- Double-check all the printer settings within ProSeries.
- Ensure your firewall isn't blocking communication between ProSeries and the printer.
