Signature date not printing on Form 8879 or state signature authorization form in Lacerte
by Intuit• Updated 1 year ago
The e-file Form 8879 won't show a date in Forms unless a date is entered in the electronic filing screen. If the Computer date as PIN signature date is selected, the computer date will be used in the electronic file. Since that date continuously changes, the date won't appear on the 8879 or equivalent.
To display the date on the form:
- Go to the Electronic Filing screen:
- Screen 4 - Individual
- Screen 4 - Partnership
- Screen 4.2 - Corporate
- Screen 3.2 - S-Corporate
- Screen 2.2 - Fiduciary
- Screen 5.1 - Exempt organization
- Go to the Paperless Filing Signature section.
- Enter a date in the Taxpayer's signature date field.
To set or remove Computer Date as PIN Signature Date:
All clients (global):
- From the Settings menu, select Options or Primary Options.
- Go to the Tax Return tab.
- Change Computer Date as PIN Signature Date in the Tax Return Options section as required.
Per client basis:
- Go to the Electronic Filing screen.
- Screen 4 - Individual
- Screen 4 - Partnership
- Screen 4.2 - Corporate
- Screen 3.2 - S-Corporate
- Screen 2.2 - Fiduciary
