Moving Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) files to another computer

This article will show you how to move all the client information in ProSeries Fixed Asset Manager to a new computer.
Before you start:
- This article references default installation paths and uses YY to reference the tax year in 20YY format. C: will always indicate the local drive and X: will always indicate the network drive.
Standalone installs
Follow these steps to move Fixed Asset Manager files to a another computer for a standalone install:
- Copy the FamWinYY folders on the local C:\ drive to a portable drive.
- Use the steps in this article to install Fixed Asset Manager from scratch on the new computer.
- Once installed, copy the FamWinYY folders from the portable drive to the C:\ drive on the new computer.
- Open Fixed Asset Manager on the new computer.
- If the clients don't show, go to the File menu, select Open Client, and open each client.
Network installs
Follow these steps to move FAM files to a another computer for a network install:
- Copy the FamWinYY folders on the local C:\ drive to a portable drive.
- Use the steps in this article to install Fixed Asset Manager from scratch on the new computer.
- Once installed, copy the FamWinYY folders from the portable drive to the new network drive.
- Install the workstation by opening the Setup.exe file under FamWinYYWKSTN on the new network drive.
- Open Fixed Asset Manager on the workstation.
- If the clients don't show, go to the File menu, select Open Client, and open each client.
