Entering Paid Family Leave on Form 1099-G for California in ProConnect

This article will show you how to enter California Paid Family Leave (PFL) amounts from Form 1099-G in Intuit ProConnect.
How to enter California PFL from Form 1099-G
Per the 2021 California Instructions for Schedule CA (540) for line 7:
Payments received from the PFL Program are reported on federal Form 1099-G, Certain Government Payments. California excludes payments received from the PFL program from taxable income. Enter on line 7, column B the amount of PFL payments shown in column A. For more information, get FTB Pub. 1001.
The amount should be entered as ordinary Unemployment Compensation.
Follow these steps to enter California PFL:
- Go to the Input Return tab.
- From the left of the screen, select Income and choose Tax Refund, Unempl. Comp. (1099-G).
- Scroll down to the Federal section.
- Locate the Unemployment Compensation section.
- Enter the amount in Total received (1).
