Copying or Sharing Custom Filters in Lacerte
by Intuit• Updated 5 months ago
There is information that will need to be gathered from both the workstation that has the custom filters, and the workstation you will be copying to.
On both machines:
- Open Lacerte.
- Press F10 to open the Technical Support Information
- On the System Information tab, make a note of the Option path and take note of the path.
- Scroll to the bottom of the window and take note of the workstation number.
To share the custom filters:
- Close Lacerte on both machines
- On the machine that has the filters, browse to the options path
- Locate and copy the file CTSxxx.?Wy
- xxx is the Lacerte workstation number,
- ? is the tax type
- y is the tax year.
- Example: If the Lacerte workstation number is 003, the tax type is individual and the tax year is 2020, the name of the custom filter file will be CTS003.iw0.
- If necessary, browse to the options path for the computer that needs the filters
- Typically network setups use the same option path for all machines
- Paste the copied file.
- Rename the file to match the Lacerte workstation number of the computer needing the custom filters.
- Example: If the second computer's Lacerte workstation number is 005, rename the Copy of CTS003.iw0 to CTS005.iw0.
Complete this for each tax type needed and for each computer needing the custom filters.
