Resolving E-File Reject R0000-922 in ProConnect Tax
by Intuit• Updated 2 weeks ago
E-File Reject R0000-922 states:
"Filer's EIN and Name Control in the Return Header must match data in the e-File database, unless "Name Change" or "Name or Address Change" checkbox is checked, if applicable."
The Name Control is a 4-letter code that takes the place of the business name. The IRS has rules that govern how the Name Control is determined from the name of the business. Sometimes, the Name Control the IRS uses doesn't match the standard format, and this rejection will occur.
If you have made sure the business name is entered correctly in the program, then the IRS will need to be contacted to obtain the Name Control that should be used for the business. Refer to the IRS website for the current contact options.
It is recommended to have the following information ready:
- The business's name
- The business's Employer Identification Number
- The Reject code: R0000-922
- Power of Attorney, if available
Once the Name Control has been received from the IRS, you can use an override in the program to use the required name control:
- From the Input Return tab, go to General ⮕ Electronic filing ⮕ Miscellaneous
- Enter the Name Control in the Name Control[O] field.
Once the Name Control has been entered, re-transmit the return.
