Amending a FBAR return (114) in ProSeries

This article will help you create and file an amended Form 114 in Intuit ProSeries.

How do I amend Form 114?
- Open the return.
- On the Federal Information Worksheet, scroll down to Part VI Electronic Filing of Tax Return Information.
- Mark the checkbox for File Amended Form 114 Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) Electronically.
- From File menu, select Go to Foreign Bank Reporting Form 114.
- Make the necessary corrections.
- Run Final Review and correct all reported errors.
- Save and Close the client file.
- Go to the EF Center or EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
- Locate the client return. It'll have a EF Status of Amended Frm 114 Marked for EF.
- Select the return, then e-file the return.
- Once successfully submitted, the EF Status will display Amended Frm 114 Received by Intuit.
Amending a previously amended 114
An unlimited number of Amended Form 114's may be filed electronically. To electronically file additional Amended Form 114's for a client, follow these steps.:
- Open the client return.
- Don't un-mark the original or amended Form 114 electronic filing checkboxes on the Federal Information Worksheet — leave these boxes checked.
- Press F6 to bring up Open Forms.
- Type EF to and select OK to open the EF Info Wks.
- On the Electronic Filing Information Worksheet, scroll down to the Amended Returns section.
- Mark the checkbox for File another Amended Form 114 Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR) electronically.
- From File menu, select Go to Foreign Bank Reporting Form 114.
- Make the necessary corrections.
- Run Final Review and correct all reported errors.
- Save and Close the client file.
- Go to the EF Center or EF Clients tab in ProSeries Basic.
- Locate the client's return. It'll have a EF Status of Amended Frm 114 Marked for EF.
- Select the return, then e-file the return.
- Once successfully submitted, the EF Status will display Amended Frm 114 Received by Intuit.
E-file status for amended 114 filings:
All Amended Form 114 filings will utilize the same electronic filing statuses and acknowledgments as the original Form 114 filing. These include:
- Amended Frm 114 Marked for EF - The amended Form 114 is available for electronic filing but has not been transmitted.
- Amended Frm 114 Received by Intuit - The amended Form 114 has been submitted to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center.
- Amended Frm 114 Sent to FinCEN - The Intuit Electronic Filing Center has forwarded an amended Form 114 to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) for processing. This filing is outstanding and an acknowledgment has not yet been received.
- Amended Frm 114 Accepted - The amended Form 114 has been accepted and has been successfully filed. This is a final acknowledgment status and no further action is required.
- Amended Frm 114 Conditional Accept - The amended Form 114 has been received by FinCEN but errors were identified. Additional action is required and a second Amended Form 114 must be submitted after corrections are made.
- Amended Frm 114 Rejected - The amended Form 114 has been rejected due to issues impacting the transmission of the return or due to formatting errors.
Conditional Acceptance error codes
To see the Conditional Acceptance error code:
- Open ProSeries to the EF Center.
- In the EF Status column you'll see Frm 114 Conditional Accept.
- Click on Frm 114 Conditional Accept to open the Electronic Filing Client Status History Report.
ProSeries provides the most common causes of conditional acceptance; however, there's a full list available in the 'BSA Electronic Filing Requirements For Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts' on page 69.
