How to resolve Lacerte diagnostic ref. 25972 - Principal Business Code (SIC) is missing or invalid

This article will help to resolve the following diagnostic:

• "Principal Business Code (SIC) is missing or invalid. Please select the SIC code from the table." (ref. #25972)

To resolve, follow these steps:

1. Click on the diagnostic from the Diagnostics tab.
2. On Screen 43.012, California NOLs, under the California Prior Year NOLs section, select the SIC (NB or ESB Loss) from the dropdown list.

This diagnostic doesn't prevent e-filing.
