I agree with this.
We should be able to manually lock a return.
- I amended a state return in 2021 that had to be filed as a paper return because the state did not accept e-filed amendments. There was no way to trigger the return lock.
- I had a 2021 extension rejected because an extension had already been filed by the client's former tax preparer. Even though I later e-filed this client's 2021 return, the return did not auto-lock because of the earlier rejected extension. There was no way to trigger the return lock.
