There should be a way to automatically print tax returns with either the entire Social Security Number(s) masked, or displaying the last 4 digits - without the "do not mail" watermark. There should be an automated way without having to click the "Mask Social Security #" box when you print the tax return. All entities should offer this, including masking EINs.
Masked copies default to include a DO NOT MAIL watermark to discourage accidental filing. This watermark is compliant with existing agency filing instructions more here: Masking a client's Social Security Number in Lacerte
