Ahh…Time for a rant… for all who are unfamiliar with….
The NJ PAS-1 debuted last year as a single form to consolidate 3 state social (property tax) credit programs into one form for low(er) income seniors and disabled.
The PAS-1 may be the most convoluted, unwieldy and poorly designed form I have ever seen. The line by line instructions are even worse.
NJ does have an electronic filing option BUT they verify each TP (ONLY) through their ID.ME authentication. Think about how many octogenarians have or can obtain Id.Me credentials …. So, it’s all paper file (or was last year) and sucks.
They’re not due until November, so I have seniors sign the blank forms and collect the booklets until I get around to it over the summer… when they complain ‘my neighbor already got their check” I offer to return their forms so their neighbor can prepare it….
It Would be wonderful for Intuit to provide the preparation software and I vote yea… but not holding my breath…. The cost to develop the software for this POS form would likely rival the NJ State budget.
