With all of your suggestions, the client letter is going to be more pages than the federal and state returns. 😀 Personally, I would like the letter to shrink instead of grow. Most clients just want to know what their refund or balance due is and don't read the letter anyway.
I reduced the client letter by eliminating the Federal Tax Summary and State Tax Summary pages. Just put paragraphs about Federal and State refunds or tax due. There is plenty of room for Senior Deduction, SEP contributions and other comments. Most of the time I printed to PDF and made changes as needed.
I've eliminated the letter completely as I never ever used it. All returns are prepared with client present.. they have their own dedicated big screen monitor that they can see the return prepared, as well as the outcome which we of course mention upon completion with commentary added during preparation.
Who else is up at 2:07 am.. i think Bob may be up.. I am ready to go running in a bit.. I have an illuminated vest and a LED headlight so I can see a bit and also be seen at this dark hour of the night
Who, me? It's only 11:13pm and finally below 80 degrees, so I can open up the house for some fresh air. I slept earlier but now it's time to check my websites. Marinetraffic and then flightradar. Already watched Late Night on YouTube. Started watching an Alec Guinness movie from 1954, The Detective, might finish it before going back to sleep.
I have had an unusal pattern since start of tax seaon.. kind of stuck and I am this pattern..
- Wake up about 1:30 or 2 am
- review client roster for the day and coming days and pre-answer those questions I can answer before we even meet. back up those files.. (at home working a this time of day, which I restore to my office comptuer when I get to the office)
- Read DailyMail and leave comments seening how many downvotes I can get
By this time it is about 3 am.
- Lift some weights
- Go on a short, three mile run.. I can do that in 29 minutes.my goal
- Takes me to about 4 am by time I re-group from run and take post work out supplements
- Read the Medina Gazette and check pre-market market news and stocks
- Balance my checkbook..
- Feed Debit and Credit.. off to office about, time varies. but maybe arrive at 5:45 am
- Restore files I backed up at home to my office computer
- meet with clients, first appt at 7 am maybe
- meet one client after another until about 5:30 pm
Sleeping by 7 pm..
This routine will change soon I hope but I still have a lot of people on extensions I am working on but trying to stay up to at least 9 pm so I can shift to a more non-tax season schedule that I used to have
