Please fix the programming error on Form 1041 that requires me to type my name in the signature box. This has been an issue on 2018 and 2019 returns. No other form requires that (1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 706, 709, 5500). My name is already printed in the Preparer's Name box. This is the same as all other return types, but for whatever reason it was programmed to require a name (or a single letter) be typed before the program will allow the return to be e-filed.
Do you check the box to have ProSeries auto print your name in the signature box? That was the suggestion I was given. But if I sign a hard copy of the return, it looks messy signing over a typed name. My issue is that it doesn't happen on any other form - just the 1041.
Yes, I have it print in the signature box and when I hard sign (which really isnt necessary if its already computer generated in the box, but I do it anyhow) I just sign next to the printed signature.
But that isn't the case for any other type of return. If you don't have your name printed in the signature box it stays clean and you can sign away at will. That is my gripe that it is only the 1041 that is programmed to "require" an entry in the signature box. To give me more room I use my initials, otherwise the name takes up the full signature box when it prints out. I think signing over the typed name looks tacky.
