Hello Intuit/Pro-Series Team,
I am writing as a long-time and loyal user of Pro-Series Professional software to express my deep frustration with the recurring issues surrounding Pro-Series Quick Employer Forms. Starting in the 2023 tax year, the system has repeatedly stopped working well before year-end, displaying nothing but a banner promoting next season’s tax software.
This disruption occurs despite the fact that the IRS continues to accept e-files for more than two months beyond the point where Quick Employer Forms becomes unavailable. Each year we are told the system is “in maintenance,” but this explanation does not align with the timing or consistency of the shutdowns. It appears the real purpose may be to push customers toward purchasing the next year’s product rather than maintaining uninterrupted access to forms we have already paid for.
The consequences for tax professionals are severe:
We cannot e-file current-year forms such as 1099s.
We cannot print client copies when needed.
We cannot resolve IRS or state tax issues for our clients.
We cannot access or review prior-year forms already filed through the system.
We lose the ability to conduct business during an active filing period.
This effectively shuts down our operations, despite having paid for indefinite access to the software. My colleagues—many of whom I personally encouraged to adopt Pro-Series—are similarly frustrated, especially since other software providers continue offering access to employer forms throughout the entire year without interruption. Situations like this make us less competitive, cause direct financial losses, and force us to pay for alternative filing software just to serve our clients.
I have always appreciated Pro-Series, but this recurring shutdown has become a serious problem. Last year, I had to purchase another software solution in October just to complete required 1099 filings after Quick Employer Forms became inaccessible.
I strongly urge Intuit to address this issue immediately. If this pattern continues, users will inevitably begin leaving Quick Employer Forms—or escalating matters through formal complaints due to loss of business and paid services being unavailable.
Thank you for taking this concern seriously. I hope Pro-Series will restore reliable, year-round access to Quick Employer Forms so professionals like me can continue trusting and recommending your product.
