First, I know the rules for the energy credit for new furnace, one being an energy credit audit.  However, my clients did not put in the new furnace for the credit.  The gas company did a reading because of trouble with the old furnace........the gas company literally shut their old furnace down and said "Do NOT turn on again". 

Is there any way to get a credit because they did have to install a new one?  Again, not for the energy credit, but at over $4,000, the credit would be great. 

They are happy just to get the furnace and be safe, but they fit all the other requirements for the credit.
