When I need a little guidance I just start out with a general Google search for the topic I am looking for.  Then I see what pops up and see where the information is coming from.  Then I will start taking a gander at sources that I believe are reputable.  The one thing you do have to be careful of are the dates of the sources.  There is a lot of information out there, including a lot of outdated information.
