We prepared a tax return in ProConnect and now we cannot locate it.  How do I find the return.

Might be looking in the wrong year. Try going to the client profile and see if you see the return there.

We are unable to locate a tax preparation for a client.   When I review the TaxReport_TY24 from October 16, 2025.  The client name is on the list, but there are not tax preparations in the system.

If you can’t find a return in ProConnect, first check that you’re signed into the correct account and tax year. Then use the search bar in the “Returns” tab and try filtering by client name, SSN/EIN, or status. Also check the “Archived” and “Deleted” sections, as returns sometimes get moved there. If it was saved locally, confirm you’re on the same computer or server where it was prepared. In practice, we’ve seen that setting a consistent client naming and storage process (something we follow at [Content Removed] ) makes locating prior returns much easier later on.

@johnsmith1 ProConnect does not store returns locally everything is stored on Intuit servers as the program is completely cloud based.  You also can't filter by ssn/ein in ProConnect as you can in ProSeries or Lacerte.  The search feature only searches by the return name.

Often times when a client return disappears, it is due to a change in Quickbooks Online Accountants for the rights to that client.  Please contact us at support.  We can have you invite us to the account to find it from the backend for you and get your access restored to the returns.  Any return that has been efiled can't be deleted from the ProConnect account so it would simply be hidden from your view based upon some change that was made to the client.
