I have a physician that is in the USA with a J1 visa.  Haven't had to deal with filing taxes for special visas.

As per the IRS  I'm supposed to file a 1040 Non-Resident but I'm not too familiar with the process.  How do I ensure his taxes are properly done and not charged as a resident.

Let me know

Thanks!

J1 visa holder income is excluded for first 2 years.  You need to go under misc section and select non-resident return (1040 NR).

Nonresident Alien tax returns can be a completely different thing.  Unless you have done extensive research on it, I highly recommend passing this client to somebody that is well versed in 1040NRs.
