I followed the instructions I could find and entered the marriage date and the alternative family size for the taxpayer and spouse under Credits->Premium Tax Credit but the box to calculate the alternative calculation is not being checked on the return.

Is the alternative method reducing the repayment? Very often, it does not.
If it isn't reducing the payment, the alternative method is not being used, which is why the box is not checked.

Thanks! I was thinking in my head it would check the box and then perform the calculation to see if it made a difference but you are right, it isn't checking the box because the calculation would not reduce the tax.
