I am a ERO and preparer
I have another preparer and their information is carrying to form 8879, but they are not a ERO or setup as one

Your are the ERO and any preparer using your account will use your ERO. They must have a PTIN. Click on the gear ICON in the lower left (now shows NEW IN RED). Select Preparer Information and Add a new preparer.

Hi!

Did you find a solution for this issue?

I'm having the same problem when trying to print the ERO's information on Form 8879 and the preparer's information on Form 1040.

The preparer is not the same as the ERO but I'm getting the preparer's information on 1040 AND 8879, which is incorrect.

I couldn't find a way to select the ERO and the preparer independently.

Thanks in advance!

@Letlarrydoit Thanks for stopping by the community! Thought that we would add this to this post too incase anyone else is wondering about the questions. We have checked and there is no way to pick them independently. ProConnect Tax will show the designated preparer, that is chosen on the Client Info screen, on the 8879. The default preparer is there for when no preparer selection is made, it defaults to that default preparer. We look forward to your posts in the community.

I must be missing something.

The firm - whether sole proprietor, LLC, S Corp, etc. is the ERO. It has an EIN and ERO number. The software is licensed by the ERO. Intuit embeds most of that info in the license "disk". EROs efile the returns

Then there are individual tax return preparers. They have PTINs. They sign tax returns.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
