How do I add a dependent? Entering information for the dependent did not work so I need to know what i am missing, please help?

I have input the birth date, social, and name correctly as it says to do in my book but yet the dependent still wont show on the 1040 and give credit. It passes all the requirements.

Hi there,

I'd go to the Check Return tab and review the Critical Diagnostics and Suggestions shown on the left side - they'll usually alert you of missing info that's suppressing a credit.

Other than the name, DOB, and SSN, make sure you also have the type of dependent selected.
