I received a notice CP2057 requesting that an amended return 1040X be mailed to them instead of E-Filed as was the original 1040 return.
Why would the IRS request a mailed in 1040X when Efile is available?
Retirement is sounding good at this time...

Maybe the template for that notice hasn't been updated for the relatively recent ability to efile 1040X.
The more I know the more I don’t know.

Their Instructions are contrary to how the Amended return can be filed if you Efiled the Original, You can Efile the Amended.. and If you mailed in the original you have to mail in the Amended.
Makes no sense.....
How ever said It should???? I guess...

"contrary to how the Amended return can be filed if you Efiled the Original, You can Efile the Amended"
That's an Intuit Program provision; not an IRS provision.
The IRS would ask for paper submission when there are things they want included that are not part of what software would typically include as efile.
It seems they rejected your original efiling of that client's return. You can't figure out what more they want, that makes an amended return necessary?
