Taxpayer had state pickup on 1099-R (yes, MD taxes your retirement upfront). MD 502 gave him both the pension exclusion and the pickup deduction so he ended up with negative taxable income. @Orlando for your information.  No time to send you the file as I've overriden it and moved on.  Just be aware.
