I have one for some community insight today.
Working with someone who worked in WI all year, but was living in IL from Jan to end of APR before moving to WI. In 2019 they were full-time residents of IL.
She made estimated payments to IL all of last year and her W2 only had WI withholdings.
Would I file two part-time residents capturing the move date and allocating income for residency?

When you write "they," do you mean this is a joint return? Or just the client and her dependents?
Sounds like two part-year state returns, but the Wisconsin return would include what she earned while a nonresident. And then Illinois probably gives her a credit for that tax, but check locally.
