I filed an extension for a client and the extension was accepted by agency however when I filed clients 1040 I am getting an error stating the SSN was previously filed I doubled check SSN and it is correct I updated software and unchecked the box and rechecked and continue to get an error I'm hoping someone can help resolve. Thank you

SOMEONE filed a return using your client's SSN:
1) Your client did in an attempt to get the stimulus payment (it's happened many, many, many times...
2) Legit error by someone with dancing fingers, transposing numbers.
3) Identity theft.
Paper file, call the IRS, and inform your client to check on banking/credit card activity in case it is identity theft.
