Client received a W2-G related to casino winnings in MS. Tax was withheld on the W2-G. However, the Form 80-205 computes the state tax on the winnings, but does NOT factor in the withholding. Client should receive a refund, but the MS return instead shows tax due (i.e. does not subtract the tax withheld). ProSeries says to get updates for the MS return. Any ideas on where I go to get that? "Update Installed Products" produces no results. Error Code: XMS00-099

I have answered my own question. I spoke to the e-file people at the Mississippi Dept of Revenue - A non-resident of MS does NOT need to file a MS state tax return if the only income was from gambling winnings (W2-G). Whatever FIT withholding taken by the casino is the END OF THAT TRANSACTION. No more tax due and no refunds.
