Today 4/23/26, every file I open in my 2025 Proseries system has inexplicably generated an Explanation statement that is titled "Amortization of Domestic Research and Experimental costs." This is happening in both unfiled and filed returns. Anyone else have this issue?

Well, glad to know it's not because I entered something weird to generate this.
Thanks for posting this issue.

This just showed up on 4-23-26 in a tax return that is to be filed. How do I get rid of it?

Just spoke to Intuit. Still working on it.
would like to know if I efile with the weird statement since I can’t dump it, do you think the IRS will know it’s erroneous? Intuit says yes, no problem. Would like some opinions please.
thanks.

I haven't updated since this issue popped up, but if the issue hasn't created any bogus numbers to float around in the returns it shouldn't hurt anything e-filing the return.

Just as the major religions of the world cannot agree on the true path to God, there are different beliefs about how to provoke an audit by IRS. Take your pick.
1) We know enough about the IRS audit selection process and this is not something that would cause them to look at a return.
2) We doubt that even IRS knows today how it will go about selecting returns for audit next year, so it cannot be known whether this makes any difference.

YES, my AI says there is No Fix Yet. Really, really frustrating, I think it is harmless but I still need to document it in my workpapers just in case it creates an issue a year or two down the road.
